Designed for replacing your disc brake pads for good braking in all conditions.
In this procedure, you may need: A pad spreader, brake cleaner and a microfibre cloth.
Running in creates regular friction between the pads and discs. Before you start, clean your discs thoroughly and replace them if the pads are new.Put on your helmet, check your GPS equipment or cycle computer and find a clear, flat route.
To run the brakes in properly you need to alternate their use and follow a three-phase protocol:Ten braking manoeuvres at 15 km/h, then ten at 20 km/h, and finally ten at 25 km/h, each time decelerating gradually to 5 km/h.Between each stage, cycle freely to allow the system to breathe.
Take care of your brakes from the moment you start pedalling:use one brake at a time, avoid sudden braking, and stay on a flat road. The running-in period can last up to 30 minutes. If you notice a drop in performance or rainbow reflections on the discs, your pads may be glazed. If this happens, we recommend visiting a Decathlon workshop.
