Waterproof your hiking experience with our new waterproof jacket. Designed at the foot of Mont Blanc, this lightweight and breathable jacket will keep you dry during mountain hikes.

Description

Set off with total peace of mind, this waterp. jacket can handle prolonged periods of rain in the mountains, ideal for your hikes in changing weather conditions

Is the fabric waterproof?

Your jacket is protected by a waterproof coating that can withstand 15,000 mm H2O (Schmerbers). In other words? It’s as if it can withstand a 15 m column of water. Suffice it to say that you can hike with total peace of mind in heavy rain.

What waterproofing tests are done?

We conduct laboratory tests that simulate rainfall scenarios in order to guarantee the jacket's waterproof rating. This garment has been subjected to a shower test using 60 litres of water/sqm/hour for 2 hours. This test reproduces the average conditions of a rain shower in the mountains.

And what about the hood?

The hood fits your head perfectly owing to its elastic cord that adjusts the height and riptab at the back for depth. It also has a small peak which provides efficient rain protection for your face. You stay dry, even in bad weather!

To what extent does this jacket breathe?

The JIS L 1099 B1 test measures the water vapour that passes through the fabric in 24h, in grams per sqm. The higher this value is, the more breathable the fabric. A performance rating of 15,000g/sqm/24h, corresponding to a highly breathable fabric, is ideal for walking in the mountains.

Any information about the jacket’s composition?

This jacket has a membrane, in other words, a very thin film coating under the outer fabric (2.5 layer construction). This technique makes the jacket waterproof, while remaining lightweight and breathable.

What is the fit of this jacket?

This jacket has a standard cut that follows your body shape without being too clingy. It offers enough space inside to wear a pullover or fleece jacket underneath. Its design also means you can layer your clothing depending on the temperature, while retaining freedom of movement.

How to restore the water-repellent properties?

Water-repellency is when water slides off your jacket rather than soaking in. This treatment can weaken over time, but don’t worry! To reactivate it, simply put your jacket in the tumble drier for 10 minutes at a low temperature setting. You can also use our waterproofing spray (ref 8554908).

BREATHABILITY

Component breathability is measured by its thermal evaporative resistance (RET). This is its capacity to let water vapour generated by the body during physical activity escape and therefore avoid water accumulating on the skin. The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric. RET ≤ 6: very breathable fabric RET ≤ 12: breathable fabric RET ≤ 20: not very breathable fabric This product was assessed at 10 RET

HOW TO RESTORE THE WATER-REPELLENT PROPERTIES

A fabric is water repellent when it allows water slide over its surface without seeping in. The fabric does not soak up water and therefore remains lightweight and breathable. The water repellent property is achieved by treating the fabric's exterior. This treatment needs to be renewed during the lifetime of the garment. The water-repellent property can be reactivated by putting the jacket in the tumble dryer for 10 minutes on low heat. You can also use the waterproof spray (ref 8554908)
